Small space bedroom lighting ideas

Many Terra Labs customers live in apartments where the bedroom has to do a lot of jobs at once: sleep, work, storage, maybe even a workout corner. Here are a few layout ideas that work well with table lamps.

One lamp, multiple roles

If you have only one tiny nightstand, place a compact lamp like Yuji or a single Stance on that side and position a mirror or light colored artwork on the wall opposite. The lamp will bounce light off that surface and help brighten the rest of the room without needing a second fixture.

You can also use a smart plug or smart bulb so that one lamp acts like your “main” bedroom light. Turn it on full brightness when you are getting dressed in the morning, then dim it down in the evening.

Bed in a corner

When your bed is tucked into a corner, a lamp on the open side plus a wall shelf or sconce style lamp on the other wall can create the feeling of two balanced light sources. A sculptural lamp on the open side paired with a simple reading sconce or a smaller lamp on a wall mounted shelf keeps the room from feeling lopsided.

Shared bedroom or nursery corner

If you share your bedroom with a partner, baby, or pet who sleeps earlier than you do, choose a lamp that lets you direct light towards your book and away from the rest of the room. Position it slightly behind your shoulder on the side you sleep, so that it lights the pages but does not shine directly in anyone’s face.

Terra Labs lamps work well with lower brightness bulbs, so you can still see what you need without lighting up the entire space.
